WorldFest: The Houston International Film Festival
Since 1968, WorldFest has been introducing independent films, shorts, television commercials, documentaries, and more to eager audiences ready to experience the finest this art form has to offer. Founded by producer and director Hunter Todd, the ultimate goals of WorldFest are to present quality independent films in a venue where they can be recognized, enjoyed, and awarded. The 2014 45th Annual WorldFest will take place from April 4th until April 13th at the AMC Studio 30 at Dunvale. Film categories include shorts, student films, screenplays, music videos, theatrical features, and commercials and public service announcements.
Houston International Festival
Each April, the Houston International Festival draws enormous crowds to enjoy thousands of booths, demonstrations, artisans, and performers. The 2014 Houston International Festival will be held every Saturday and Sunday from April 26th through May 4th in Houston’s Tranquility Park. This year’s Festival will focus on the arts, culture, and history of Australia, while also highlighting countries around the world with six separate stages, an arts and crafts market, and various exhibits, activities, and street performances throughout the event. You can sample the finest in both local and international cuisine as you stroll through the International Festival’s many art markets and exhibitions. The 2014 Houston International Festival will also feature a Celebrate Australia barbecue cook-off to raise money for charity, where you can experience the food, drink, and entertainment that makes Australia unique.
Texas Crawfish & Music Festival
Located in Old Town Spring, the 27th Annual Texas Crawfish & Music Festival will kick off on April 25th, 2014, to celebrate two full weekends of family-friendly fun. If you love Cajun and Creole food, you’ll definitely want to check out the largest crawfish festival in the South. Festival-goers will enjoy three stages of live music in addition to children’s activities and midway games—and don’t forget the 25 tons of crawfish consumed every year! A few of the additional delicious food offerings you’ll find among the tents include ice cream, burgers, beer, soft drinks, pizza, and a variety of tasty vegetarian options.
