Apartment Organization Tips

A well-organized apartment creates a feeling of welcome and relaxation the moment you walk through the door. Although it can be challenging to keep your apartment neat and clean when you lead a busy lifestyle, there are a few tips and tricks that can help you stay on track in the battle against clutter and disorganization. Keep reading to find out how you can maintain an orderly apartment to enhance the look and feel of your Broomfield home.

Kitchen Organization

Your kitchen is one of the main activity hubs in your apartment, but keeping this space organized isn’t impossible. Use a bulletin board or magnetic message board to keep notes and important papers visible without taking up counter space. Store the majority of your food items and cooking implements in your pantry, drawers, and cabinets, keeping only a minimum of appliances out on your countertop. Maximizing counter space will make your kitchen look cleaner and feel roomier—not to mention provide the opportunity to show off your quartz countertops! Use risers in your pantry to stack food vertically, allowing you to see the labels easily while utilizing all the shelf space. If you’d like a place to store items such as cookbooks, a mug collection, or other kitchen-related items, consider placing a bookshelf or end table in your kitchen’s dining space for extra storage.

Bathroom Organization

The key to an organized bathroom is maintaining clear counter and floor space. Keep only a few items on your counter at once and don’t go overboard with countertop decorative accessories. Store unused items in your vanity or medicine cabinet to keep them out of sight but within easy reach. A small wire basket can contain items such as shampoos, soaps, and razors while looking neat and stylish on the ledge of your tub. Hanging or suction cup shower caddies are another great organizational solution to keep all your toiletries in one place for easy access while bathing.

Bedroom Organization

Under-the-bed storage bins are a great place for spare linens and out-of-season clothing, and you can hide your storage solution from sight with a bed skirt. Keeping your closets organized will also cut down on clutter in the bedroom by providing plenty of space to store clothing, shoes, and other accessories out of sight. A rolling laundry organizer will keep dirty clothing organized and transport it easily from your bedroom to your apartment’s washer and dryer. Hanging baskets, over-the-door shoe organizers, and double hang closet rods create additional storage space and help you maintain a neater, cleaner closet.

Garage Organization

Renting an apartment with a private garage offers you a variety of benefits. Your garage is not only a safe place to keep your car, bike, and other outdoor equipment, it’s also a great place to store out-of-season items to free up space in your apartment. Adding utility shelves to your garage is an easy way to create vertical storage space for items you don’t need to access frequently. Car care necessities, gardening tools, and holiday decorations can all be stored in your garage. Keeping items in clear plastic bins not only reduces clutter, but provides easy viewing so you can see what’s in each bin at a glance as well.

Getting Your New Apartment Organized

Your beautiful new living space at Waena Apartments features wood-style flooring, a private lanai, and beautiful countertops you’re sure to love. Once you’ve moved in and gotten settled, however, clutter and disorganization can easily detract from the look and feel of your Honolulu apartment space. Check out these tips to help you get your apartment organized—and keep it that way—so you’ll always have a clean, spacious, and orderly island apartment to enjoy.

Cut Clutter

Clutter can accumulate quickly, causing your apartment to feel messy and disorganized. Papers, keys, notes, and other small items often pile up on any available horizontal surface because they have no “home.” One of the first and easiest steps toward getting and keeping your new apartment organized is to cut clutter by finding a home for every object. Create homes using small baskets, hooks, and over-the-door organizers if you need additional space or storage, particularly in “clutter hotspots” where items seem to accumulate quickly. Avoid placing too many decorative items, knickknacks, toiletries, and small appliances on bathroom and kitchen counters, which minimize usable space and create physical and visual clutter. Choose only a few items to keep within easy reach, and put the rest away out of sight in cabinets or closets. Keeping objects off the horizontal surfaces in your apartment will ensure you have the chance to enjoy your beautiful solid surface countertops while helping your kitchen and bathroom to feel cleaner, more open, and more relaxing.

Tackle Your Closets

While disorderly closets can be tempting to hide behind closed doors, the mess inside doesn’t disappear simply because you can’t see it. A disorganized closet creates a place where important items can easily become lost, leading to frustration and wasted time as you search for cleaning supplies, linens, jewelry, shoes, or clothes. Tackle your closets one at a time, pulling everything out so you can see what’s hidden inside. Purchase a jewelry box or organizer to keep important items clean and safe. Shoe racks are an inexpensive way to organize a pile of unruly shoes, and they are available in freestanding, over-the-door, or hanging varieties. Make sure you have enough hangers to keep clothing off the floor, or use a bureau or bookshelf to store folded clothing and linens. A rolling laundry organizer can make sorting laundry a snap, allowing you to toss items into the correct bin immediately after wearing them. When organizing a closet full of cleaning supplies, a small tension rod can provide the perfect place to hang bottles of household cleaners, rags, and more. Small plastic tubs or shower storage caddies make excellent containers for cleaning supplies and other miscellaneous items, keeping them contained and preventing spills. Make sure each cleaning item has a label to make finding the solution you need even easier.

Hiking Near Kapolei

Hiking is one of the best ways to experience life on Oahu. Some of the island’s best views can be enjoyed from the many trails that offer something for amateur and advanced hikers alike. Many of Oahu’s best hiking trails are located just minutes from your Kalaeloa rental home in Kapolei.

Manana Trail

Manana Trail is a 4-mile trail near Pearl City, just 15 minutes from Kapolei. On the Manana Trail, you’ll find hikers, runners, and mountain bikers enjoying the weather and the stunning views. The Manana Trail features plenty of shade, although it’s still recommended to bring water and wear sunscreen to beat the island heat. The lower two miles of the trail will take you to a popular camping and picnicking site where you can enjoy a rest or a meal.

Diamond Head Summit Trail

Diamond Head is one of Oahu’s most prominent features. This famous volcanic crater is located on the southeast shore of the island, easily visible from Waikiki. The 1.5-mile Diamond Head Summit Trail is one of the most popular hikes on the island, featuring 360-degree views from the WWII bunkers that still sit atop Diamond Head. This trail is a moderate-difficulty hike because parts of the trail are very steep; however, the Summit Trail is paved for easier access and features a variety of lookouts where you can stop and enjoy the island views. Because this trail is exposed, bring plenty of water and wear sunscreen. Many hikers advise starting out in the morning to avoid the hottest part of the day.

Kuli’ou’ou Ridge Trail

The Kuli’ou’ou Ridge Trail covers 2.25 miles and climbs 1,800 feet to the top of the Ko’olau Ridge, which is part of the Ko’olau Mountains visible across the eastern part of the island. This steep hike also makes a for a challenging run, but when taking the trail slowly, it is an enjoyable experience for hikers of all experience levels. Along the way, you’ll find lush island greenery and plenty of opportunities to capture photos of the landscape. There is a picnic area less than a mile from the top where you can pause to enjoy refreshments and catch your breath before making your way to the ridge’s summit to take in the beautiful views.

Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail

If you’re interested in a gently-sloping trail that culminates in a magnificent view, you’ll love the Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail. This trail takes hikers along the Ka Iwi State Scenic Shoreline and offers long-distance views of the islands of Moloka’i and Lana’i when the weather is clear. Hikers often see migrating whales as these majestic animals pass between Oahu and its neighboring islands. The Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail features a paved trail that is easy to navigate and ends near the Makapu’u Lighthouse, which is one of Oahu’s most famous landmarks. This lighthouse has been standing guard on the island’s shore since 1909. Just past the lighthouse, you’ll be able to see the eastern side of the island, including areas such as Waimanalo Beach and the Koko Crater.

One of the most appealing aspects of life on Oahu is the opportunity to hike some of the most beautiful trails in the United States. You can enjoy these hikes and more just a short distance from Kalaeloa Rental Homes. Our two-, three-, and four-bedroom garden-style rental homes feature open entertaining areas, a full-size washer and dryer, and private fenced-in yards where you can enjoy the Hawaiian sun. Personalizing Your Apartment Kitchen

Your Carmel Pacific Ridge apartment features a large kitchen with designer quartz countertops, solid wood cabinetry, a gas range, and stainless steel appliances. There are many ways to personalize your luxury kitchen while still allowing these upscale features and finishes to shine, creating a space where you’re sure to enjoy both cooking and dining.

Add Art

Many people don’t think of the kitchen as an ideal location for artwork, but adding color and texture to the walls can really imbue this room with personality. Choose a color palette for your kitchen and find artwork or other items that tie in with this theme. Artwork doesn’t necessarily need to be in the form of prints or photos, either—consider displaying artistic pieces with a kitchen theme, such as aprons, dish towels, or painted pots and pans. Small statuettes, vases, and other items can also bring personality and color to your kitchen. Cookbooks with covers that pick up your kitchen’s color scheme can also serve as risers to lift decorative items a few inches off your counters. When adding décor to your kitchen counters, keep items to a minimum to avoid taking up valuable working space. One or two countertop items are all you’ll need to show off your kitchen’s personality.

Set Your Table

Just like a well-made bed, a beautifully-set table can set the decorative tone of your kitchen. Keeping your table set not only gives your kitchen personality, it will also discourage you from using the table as a catch-all space for keys, papers, and other clutter. Start with a tablecloth or runner that appeals to you and maintains the color or pattern theme of your kitchen. Depending upon the size of your table, purchase two to four decorative place settings in a color and style you like—and don’t forget placemats, chargers, and cloth napkins! Add a vase and flowers (they can be real or fake) to integrate additional colors that complement your place settings. Alternatively, you can use other decorative items as a themed centerpiece for your table, such as books, a statuette, or even colored kitchen canisters.

Show Off Your Collections

Do you collect mugs, teacups, or other kitchen-related items? Show off your collection on small section of your countertop or by placing a pedestal, curio cabinet, or shelving unit in your kitchen. Floating shelves or wall hooks are another great display option if you want to conserve floor space. Place items in a unique arrangement that shows off the elements you like best. If you have a large collection, don’t try to set it out all at once. Rotating items will keep the amount of belongings displayed at any one time under control while still allowing you to enjoy your entire collection, a few items at a time.

You’ll love customizing your Carmel Pacific Ridge apartment to create a luxurious San Diego retreat made just for you. We invite you to take a look through our gallery and features page to discover why you’ll love living at Carmel Pacific Ridge.
