Dash n’ Dine 5k Series
Just a short drive to Boulder is all it takes to participate in one of the area’s favorite race series: Dash n’ Dine. This six-race series consists of a 5k run followed by a laid-back post-race dinner the entire family can enjoy. The Dash n’ Dine series is famous for its fun, friendly atmosphere. This race appeals to veterans and first-time runners alike with a course that alternates between pavement and hard-packed dirt for easy traction. The Dash n’ Dine 5k takes you along the dam road around the Boulder reservoir for great natural views during the run. This year’s race series begins on April 8th, 2014, with races to follow on April 15th, April 22nd, May 6th, May 13th, and May 20th. Each race begins at 6:30pm, with a post-race cookout scheduled for 7:15pm. One dollar from each entry fee goes to support the Wounded Warrior Project.
The Broomfield Music Teachers’ Association will present the second of three 2014 Marvelous Musicales on April 19, 2014. This event, held at the Broomfield Auditorium from 4-5:30pm, features short three- to five-minute performances that highlight local musical talent. Participants include solo instrumentalists, pianists, and vocalists performing a variety of selections from musical theater, jazz, folk, classical, and contemporary music. Each Marvelous Musicales event is different, so there’s always something new to see and hear. You can enjoy this event as a spectator or visit the Broomfield Music Teachers’ Association website to enter yourself in this fun-for-all musical event!
Broomfield Brawler Adventure Race
The Broomfield Brawler is “the ultimate scavenger hunt” that will challenge your body and your mind. Anyone and everyone can take part in this unique event, which is a combination wilderness eco-event and Amazing Race. All you’ll need is one to three buddies, a bike, and a helmet to participate in this year’s Broomfield Brawler, which will take place on Sunday, May 4th, beginning at 9am. The main disciplines necessary for the race are running and biking, but you may find yourself jumping, skating, and getting a little wet along the way! The race stops are a secret you’ll have to decipher in order to continue, hence the “scavenger hunt” aspect of the race. During the Broomfield Brawler, you’ll make your way through both the city of Broomfield and the surrounding countryside, using local landmarks to navigate during this two- to four-hour event that will cover anywhere between eight and fifteen miles of your Colorado home. Cash prizes are awarded to the top two two- and four-person teams, with the amounts dependent upon the number of entrants in the event.
